Consignment movie by Justin Hannah showing as an Official Selection at the 2013 Brainwash Movie Festival

Justin Hannah's movie "Consignment" is an Official Selection at the Brainwash Movie Festival, taking place in Oakland, California on July 19-27.

Now in its 19th year, the Brainwash Movie Festival has been written about in Variety, the New York Times, the Chronicle Pink Section, East Bay Express, Bay Guardian, SF Weekly, and in AAA’s Via magazine, among many others. The New York Times says the festival “pirates a piece of that old Hollywood magic and challenges conventions on the role of public space in the process.”

Started in 1995 as the Cacophony Drive-In Short Film Video Festival, the movies shown at the Brainwash Movie Festival are a great mix of original humor, experimental art movies, innovative animation, and short live-action stories with high production values. The moviemakers are unique and skillful storytellers, and the movies themselves pack a real punch into anywhere from 5 to 18 minutes.

The Brainwash Movie Festival is also unique in that it takes place in a traditional drive-in format, complete with FM speakers. Brainwash considers itself "the original Drive-In/Bike-In/Walk-In movie festival," with attendees driving, biking, and walking to see provocative, humorous and touching movie picks from around the globe.

"Consignment" is a stylish period drama written and directed by Justin Hannah, starring Abbra Smallwood, Margaret Wuertz, Jake Gilliam and Jessica McGill, with cinematography by Lee Clements and music by Robert Casal.

Described in reviews as "an alluring, multi-layered film experience" and "a beautifully realized, thought provoking short film," the movie has drawn comparisons to Alfred Hitchcock and David Lynch. "Consignment" won awards for Best Cinematography at the 2015 Blaquefyre Independent Film Festival, Best Kentucky Short at the 2014 Autumn Shorts Film Festival, Best Short Film at the 2013 World Independent Film Expo, and Most Original Film at the 2013 Floyd Film Festival.
